Runtime Configuration in Eclipse for plug-ins – Overriding the default workspace location

If  you are developing Eclipse Plug-ins or Eclipse RCP applications when you create a runtime configuration for starting your plug-ins / RCP application.

I find is personally annoying that the default location for your workbench is above your  current directory. For example if you are developing in c:\EclipseWorkspace then the runtime configuration will be in c:\….

I resently learned that you could use String Substribution to change this. Select therefore Preferences-> Run/Debug -> String Substitution and maintain a new entry with  the  name “workspace_loc” and the value as your desired directory.  This way every time you use this in your runtime configuration it will be replaced with the value you maintain here.
